URL Rewriting

See how to use URL Rewriting

The static URL is considered superior to the dynamic URL for a variety of reasons. Some of these include:

  1. Dynamic page URLs are indexed by Google and other search engines much more slowly than static.
  2. Static URLs possess a friendlier interface.
  3. Static URLs usually get better search engine rankings.

Dynamic URL example before being converted to a static URL:

http://www.yourwebsite.com/folder.php?mode=view&u=6

URL Rewriting Examples:

http://www.yourwebsite.com/folder/mode/view/u/6/

http://www.yourwebsite.com/folder-mode-view-u-6.html

Note – This type of URL rewrite only works with sites that are hosted under an Apache server. An Apache URL rewrite happens when the htaccess file is transferred to your web directory. Using .htaccess URL rewrites can greatly benefit your site.
